A crypto swap that looks stuck is almost always in one of three states: your deposit has not confirmed yet, the deposit confirmed and the payout is still processing, or the deposit cannot be used as sent (wrong network, missing memo, below the minimum). Find the transaction ID of your deposit, look it up in a block explorer, and within a couple of minutes you know which one it is.
On the SwapRocket crypto exchange a typical swap takes 5 to 30 minutes, and the swap page shows a status at each stage. The table further down says what each status means.
- Find the transaction ID (TXID) of your deposit in the sending wallet.
- Look it up in a block explorer. If it is still unconfirmed, the swap is waiting on the blockchain, not on the exchange.
- Check that you sent the right coin on the right network, with the memo or tag if the deposit needed one.
- Check that the amount cleared the minimum.
- If the deposit is confirmed and the status has not moved, email support@swaprocket.io with the swap ID and the TXID.
What "Stuck" Actually Means
People use "stuck" for three different situations, and the fix depends on which one you are in.
- The deposit is pending. Your transaction has been broadcast but has not been confirmed on-chain.
- The deposit is confirmed, and the swap is processing. The exchange and the payout on the other chain are still to come, or the transaction is being reviewed.
- The deposit is confirmed, but it is not what the swap expected. Wrong network, wrong coin, missing memo, too small an amount, or sent after the swap expired.
Think of the blockchain as a train. If the train has not left (pending), you wait or pay to speed it up. If it has arrived and the delivery van has not (processing), you check the next step. If the parcel went on the wrong line (wrong network), it needs manual recovery.
What the Swap Status Tells You
These are the statuses shown on a SwapRocket swap page.
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Waiting for Payment | No deposit has been detected yet | Check that your wallet or exchange has actually broadcast the transaction and given you a TXID |
| Confirming Payment | The deposit is seen and is collecting confirmations | Wait. If it is slow, the cause is the network fee or congestion |
| Exchanging | The deposit is confirmed and the swap is being executed | Wait |
| Sending | The payout is on its way to your address | Look up your receiving address in a block explorer |
| Completed | The payout has been sent | If your wallet shows nothing, the wallet display is the issue |
| On Hold | The transaction has been held for additional verification | Contact support with the swap ID |
| Overdue | The payment window expired before a deposit arrived | Start a new swap. If you sent after expiry, contact support |
| Refunded | The deposit was returned | Check your refund address |
| Failed | The swap could not be completed | Contact support with the swap ID |
Where Swaps Get Stuck, by Method
| Swap method | Usual cause of a stuck swap | What you control |
|---|---|---|
| Centralized exchange | Account limits, identity reviews, withdrawal holds | Little; the exchange holds the funds |
| DEX on one chain | Gas set too low, a reverted contract call, slippage tolerance too tight | Gas and slippage settings |
| Swap service such as SwapRocket | Waiting for confirmations, wrong network or memo, occasionally a liquidity delay or a screening hold | The deposit: coin, network, amount, fee and address details |
SwapRocket is non-custodial, so there is no account balance to be frozen. The swap still depends on the deposit being sent correctly.
The Most Common Causes, and How to Fix Each
1. The deposit does not have enough confirmations yet
Often the swap is not stuck at all. Swap services wait for a set number of confirmations before paying out, and chains differ widely:
- Bitcoin produces a block roughly every ten minutes, so it is the slowest common deposit.
- Ethereum confirms in a few minutes, longer when gas spikes.
- Tron and Solana usually confirm quickly.
Fix: copy the TXID from your wallet and open it in a block explorer. If the confirmations are counting up, wait.
2. The network fee was too low
This is most common on Bitcoin in busy periods. A fee that was adequate an hour ago can leave a transaction sitting in the mempool.
Fix (Bitcoin):
- Use RBF (Replace-By-Fee) to raise the fee, if your wallet supports it.
- Or use CPFP (Child Pays For Parent).
- Otherwise wait until the backlog clears.
RBF transaction acceleration explains both.
3. Wrong network
You meant to send USDT on Tron and sent USDT on Ethereum, or sent a token on BNB Chain when the swap expected Ethereum. The address format can look right while the network is wrong.
Fix: compare the network in the swap details with the network your wallet actually used. If they differ, contact support with the swap ID and TXID. Recovery is sometimes possible, is not guaranteed and can carry a fee. USDT networks: TRC20 vs ERC20 vs BEP20 shows how to tell them apart.
4. Missing memo or tag
XRP (destination tag), XLM (memo) and some other coins use an extra identifier. If the swap page showed one next to the deposit address and your transaction left it out, the deposit cannot be matched to your swap automatically.
Fix: contact support promptly with the TXID, the address you sent to, the amount and the time.
5. The amount was below the minimum
Every pair has a minimum, because network fees make very small swaps impossible to process. A deposit can fall short without you noticing when an exchange deducts its withdrawal fee from the amount.
Fix: check the minimum on the swap page against the amount that actually arrived on-chain. If it fell short, contact support with the swap ID.
6. The swap expired before you sent
A deposit address is issued for one swap and one payment window. A deposit that arrives after the status has changed to Overdue is not processed automatically.
Fix: do not reuse an old deposit address. If you already sent, contact support with the swap ID and TXID.
7. A liquidity delay
On SwapRocket one licensed liquidity provider executes each swap. For a thinly traded coin in a fast market, filling the order can take longer than usual.
Fix: if the deposit is confirmed and the status is Exchanging, give it time. If it stays there far beyond the usual 5 to 30 minutes, contact support.
8. The swap completed, but your wallet does not show it
The payout was sent, but the wallet is not set up for that token or network, or the token has to be added manually.
Fix: look up your receiving address in a block explorer for the payout chain. If the coins are there, the swap is done and the wallet display is the issue.
9. A screening hold
The liquidity provider screens transactions automatically. Rarely, it places a flagged one On Hold and asks for verification before completing or refunding it. This is uncommon for ordinary swaps, and it is not something a no-KYC service can rule out.
Fix: contact support with the swap ID and follow the instructions you are given.
Diagnose a Stuck Swap in Five Minutes
- Find the TXID. Open the sending wallet, find the transaction and copy its hash. If you sent from an exchange account and it has not given you a TXID, the withdrawal has not been broadcast yet.
- Check it on-chain. Paste the TXID into a block explorer and read the status, the confirmations, the amount and the destination address.
- Match coin, network and address. Right coin? Right network? Right deposit address, with the memo if one was shown?
- Compare with the normal window. A typical swap takes 5 to 30 minutes. Bitcoin deposits sit at the slow end and take longer when the network is congested. More in how long crypto swaps take.
- Escalate with the facts. Check the SwapRocket FAQ, then email support@swaprocket.io with the swap ID, the TXID, the pair, the amount and your receiving address.
How to Prevent a Stuck Swap
- Ask "which USDT?" before you send. ERC-20, TRC-20 and BEP-20 are different assets. Select the version you hold.
- Paste addresses, then check them. Compare the first and last six characters with the address in your wallet.
- Keep some of the native coin for fees. USDT on Ethereum cannot move without a little ETH for gas. The same goes for TRX on Tron.
- Pay a sensible network fee on Bitcoin when the mempool is busy, or use a wallet that can bump it.
- Send within the payment window, in one transaction, and for the amount you entered.
- Add a refund address so a swap that cannot complete has somewhere to return to.
- Send from your own wallet where you can. Exchange withdrawals add their own delays and fees.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my crypto swap taking so long?
Most often because the deposit is still collecting confirmations. Bitcoin is the slowest common deposit, and a low network fee makes it slower. Look up the TXID in a block explorer to see where it stands.
How long should I wait before contacting support?
If the deposit is confirmed on-chain and the status has not moved for well beyond the usual 5 to 30 minutes, contact support. If the deposit itself has been unconfirmed for a couple of hours, check the fee you paid and contact support with the transaction ID.
My BTC swap has been pending for 25 minutes. Is it stuck?
Probably not. That is within the normal range for a Bitcoin deposit. Check the fee rate on the TXID, and use RBF if the transaction is still unconfirmed and your wallet supports it.
The transaction says confirmed, but my wallet shows zero. What now?
Look up your receiving address in a block explorer. If the payout is there, your wallet is not displaying the token or network. Add the token or switch network in the wallet.
Can a stuck swap be cancelled or reversed?
A transaction that has been confirmed on-chain cannot be reversed. If a swap cannot be completed, the deposit is returned to the refund address you entered, minus network fees.
Is "stuck" the same as "failed"?
No. Stuck usually means waiting: for confirmations, for the exchange step or for a review. Failed means the swap could not be executed, and the next step is a refund or a message to support.
