To swap ETH to XMR without KYC, open the ETH to XMR exchange, enter the amount, paste your Monero address and send ETH from your own wallet to the deposit address shown. The XMR is paid to your Monero wallet once the deposit confirms, typically within 5 to 30 minutes. No account, email or identity document is needed for a standard swap.
The rest of this guide covers each step, the wallet you need, what the swap costs and what it does and does not do for your privacy. For other pairs with either coin, see the Ethereum (ETH) exchange page and the Monero (XMR) price and pairs page.
- You need a Monero wallet you control to receive the XMR. Feather, Cake Wallet and the official Monero GUI are common choices.
- The estimate shown before you send already includes the exchange fee and the Monero payout fee. You pay Ethereum gas on your own deposit.
- The rate is floating, so the final amount follows the market until your deposit confirms.
- The ETH you send stays visible on Ethereum. What Monero hides is what happens to the XMR afterwards.
Why Swap Ethereum for Monero?
Ethereum is a public ledger. Anyone who knows your address can use a block explorer to see every token you hold, every protocol you have used, every NFT you have traded and your whole transaction history. Analysis firms go further and link addresses to identities through exchange records, ENS names and social media.
Monero was designed to keep that information private by default.
| Ethereum | Monero | |
|---|---|---|
| Balances | Publicly visible | Not visible on-chain |
| Transaction amounts | Publicly visible | Hidden (RingCT) |
| Sender | Publicly visible | Obscured (ring signatures) |
| Receiver | Publicly visible | Hidden (stealth addresses) |
People make this swap for ordinary reasons:
- Personal security. A wallet with a visible balance attracts scammers and worse. A Monero balance cannot be read from an address.
- Financial privacy. Paying someone from an Ethereum address shows them everything else that address holds. Paying in Monero does not.
- Keeping savings out of public view. Holding part of a portfolio in XMR means it is not a line in a block explorer.
Privacy is not the same as exemption. Tax and reporting rules in your country apply to Monero as they do to any other asset.
What You Need Before You Start
- A Monero wallet you control. Feather Wallet (desktop), Cake Wallet (mobile) and the official Monero GUI are widely used. Your address starts with
4or8and is 95 characters long. - ETH in a wallet you control, plus a little extra for gas.
- An Ethereum address for refunds, normally the one you are sending from.
How to Swap ETH to XMR on SwapRocket
Step 1: Open the pair
Go to the ETH to XMR exchange. Ethereum is already selected as the coin you send and Monero as the coin you receive.
Step 2: Enter the amount
Type how much ETH you want to exchange. The page shows an estimate of the XMR you will receive, with the exchange fee and the Monero payout fee already included, and the minimum for the pair.
Step 3: Paste your Monero address
Enter the XMR address from your own wallet. Monero addresses are long, so after pasting, compare the first and last six characters with the address in your wallet. Funds sent to a wrong address cannot be recovered.
Receive to a wallet you control, not to an account on another exchange.
Step 4: Add a refund address
Enter the Ethereum address your ETH should return to if the swap cannot be completed.
Step 5: Create the exchange
Review the amounts and addresses, then create the exchange. You get a one-time Ethereum deposit address and a swap ID. Save the swap ID.
Step 6: Send your ETH
Send the ETH from your wallet to the deposit address, in one transaction and within the payment window shown on the page. Make sure the wallet has enough ETH left to pay gas.
Step 7: Wait for the payout
The swap page shows the status as your deposit confirms, is exchanged and is paid out. Ethereum confirms within minutes, so the total is typically 5 to 30 minutes.
Once the payout is broadcast, the XMR appears in your wallet as incoming. Monero locks received funds for 10 blocks, about 20 minutes, before you can spend them. That is a rule of the Monero network, not a delay in the swap.
What the Swap Costs
Three things:
| Cost | Who it goes to | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|
| Ethereum gas on your deposit | Ethereum validators | In your wallet when you send |
| Exchange fee | The exchange service | Already inside the estimate |
| Monero payout fee | The Monero network | Already inside the estimate |
Nothing is added after you send. Because the rate is floating, the final amount can end slightly above or below the estimate if the market moves while your deposit confirms.
To keep the cost down:
- Avoid busy hours on Ethereum. Gas rises during sharp market moves and popular launches. The Etherscan Gas Tracker shows the current level.
- Avoid very small swaps. Gas is a flat cost, so it takes a larger share of a small amount.
- Judge by the amount you receive. If you compare with another service, compare the XMR you would receive for the same ETH at the same moment.

Swapping Stablecoins to XMR
If your funds are in a stablecoin, you can exchange it for Monero directly, without going through ETH first:
Select the network your stablecoin is actually on. USDT on Ethereum and USDT on Tron are different assets. Other tokens can be checked on the exchange page.
ETH to XMR vs BTC to XMR: Speed
The coin you send sets the pace of a swap, because the payout waits for your deposit to confirm.
| Bitcoin | Ethereum | |
|---|---|---|
| Block time | About 10 minutes | About 12 seconds |
| Deposit confirmation | Slow, and slower when the network is busy | A few minutes |
An ETH deposit is therefore usually confirmed well before a BTC deposit would be. If you hold both, ETH is the quicker one to start from.
What "No KYC" and "Private" Mean Here
No KYC for standard swaps. SwapRocket asks for no account, no email and no identity documents. The licensed liquidity provider that executes the swap screens transactions and can, rarely, hold a flagged one and ask for verification. See how no-KYC exchanges work.
Non-custodial. You send from your own wallet and the XMR goes to the address you give. There is no wallet connection and no balance held for you.
The Ethereum side stays public. Anyone can see that your address sent ETH to a deposit address. What they cannot follow on the Monero chain is where the XMR went or what you did with it next.
Availability. SwapRocket is not offered to residents of the United States or the United Kingdom.
Security Checklist
- Check the site address. Phishing copies of swap sites exist. Type swaprocket.io or use your own bookmark.
- Verify the XMR address after pasting, first and last six characters.
- Send from a wallet you control. For large amounts, a hardware wallet is safer than a browser wallet.
- Start small if this is your first swap, and repeat with the full amount once the test arrives.
- Save the swap ID. Support needs it to find your transaction.
- Advanced: use your own Monero node. A wallet connected to your own node does not reveal to a third party which addresses it is checking.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does an ETH to XMR swap take?
Typically 5 to 30 minutes. Most of that is your ETH deposit confirming and the swap being processed. After the XMR arrives, Monero keeps it locked for 10 blocks, about 20 minutes, before it can be spent.
What is the minimum amount of ETH I can swap to XMR?
The minimum varies and is shown on the pair page before you start. Enter your amount on the ETH to XMR exchange to see whether it clears.
Can an ETH to XMR swap be traced?
The Ethereum half is public: your address, the amount and the deposit address are all on the ledger. The Monero half is not readable in the same way, because Monero hides amounts and addresses. A swap gives you a private asset. It does not erase the record of the ETH you sent.
Do I need to create an account?
No. A standard swap needs no account, no email and no identity documents. You need a Monero address to receive to and an Ethereum address for refunds. Rarely, the liquidity provider holds a flagged transaction and asks for verification.
What if Ethereum gas is high?
Wait for a quieter period if the swap is not urgent. Gas affects only your deposit transaction. The estimate you are shown for the XMR does not change because of it.
Can I swap XMR back to ETH?
Yes. The XMR to ETH exchange works the same way in reverse: you send XMR and receive ETH at your Ethereum address.
What happens if my swap fails?
If a swap cannot be completed, your ETH is returned to the refund address you entered, minus network fees. Keep the swap ID, and contact support@swaprocket.io if a refund has not arrived.
