There is no bridge to Monero in the usual sense, and you do not need one. What people call a "Monero bridge" is a cross-chain exchange: you send a coin you already hold, such as BTC, ETH, SOL or USDT, and receive native XMR at your own Monero address. SwapRocket is a no-KYC Monero exchange of that kind, not a bridge. There is no account or email, and no KYC for standard swaps.
The most used route is the BTC to XMR exchange. If you want every way of getting XMR compared, read the no-KYC Monero exchange guide.
- A bridge locks a coin on one chain and issues a wrapped copy on another. Monero has no smart contracts and a private ledger, so that model does not reach it.
- To move value from Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana or another chain into Monero, you exchange the coin for XMR.
- On SwapRocket you send from your own wallet and the XMR is paid to the Monero address you give. One licensed liquidity provider executes the swap.
- A typical swap takes 5 to 30 minutes, set mostly by how fast the coin you send confirms.
- An exchange into Monero improves on-chain privacy. It does not make you anonymous.
Why There Is No Real Bridge to Monero
A blockchain bridge locks a coin in a smart contract on one chain and issues a wrapped copy of it on another. Both halves of that design fail for Monero.
- Monero has no smart contracts. Nothing on the Monero chain can hold or issue a wrapped BTC or ETH. The only asset that exists on Monero is XMR, so there is nothing for a bridged token to arrive as.
- Monero's ledger is private. A bridge contract has to check what happened on the other chain. Monero hides senders, receivers and amounts by default, which makes that kind of public, automatic verification far harder than it is between two transparent chains.
- Wrapped XMR is not Monero. Tokens that represent XMR on other chains have been issued, but they depend on a custodian holding the real coins, and the token itself moves on a transparent ledger. You get neither self-custody nor Monero's privacy.
Atomic swaps between Bitcoin and Monero do exist and need no intermediary. They require dedicated software and a counterparty with matching liquidity, and they do not cover the hundreds of other coins people actually hold.
So in practice, getting from another chain to Monero means an exchange: one coin goes in, native XMR comes out. For the general difference, see crypto swap vs bridge and the cross-chain bridge guide.
Bridge vs Exchange to XMR
| Bridge | Exchange to XMR | |
|---|---|---|
| What you receive | A wrapped token on the destination chain | Native XMR on the Monero network |
| How it works | Smart contract locks one asset and mints another | You send one coin, a liquidity provider pays out the other |
| Wallet connection | Usually required | Not needed, you send to a deposit address |
| Available for Monero | No | Yes |
| Main risk | Bugs in the bridge contract | Sending to a wrong address or on a wrong network |
How to Exchange Any Crypto to XMR on SwapRocket
The swap needs no sign-up and no wallet connection.
- Open the pair page for the coin you hold. For example BTC to XMR, ETH to XMR or USDT to XMR. Any of the 700+ supported assets can be selected on the exchange page.
- Enter the amount. You see an estimate of the XMR you will receive. The estimate already includes the exchange fee and the Monero payout network fee, so nothing is added afterwards. The rate is floating, which means the final amount can move slightly with the market until your deposit is processed.
- Paste your Monero address. Use a wallet you control. Add a refund address on the chain you are sending from, in case the swap cannot be completed.
- Send the deposit from your own wallet. You are shown a one-time deposit address and, on the swap page, the minimum amount. Send exactly the coin and network that the page names.
- Receive XMR. Once the deposit confirms, the liquidity provider sends the XMR to your address. Keep the swap ID until the coins have arrived.
How long it takes: typically 5 to 30 minutes. Bitcoin deposits sit at the slower end because Bitcoin blocks are slower; Litecoin, Solana and TRON deposits usually confirm sooner. Incoming Monero is then locked for 10 blocks (about 20 minutes) before your wallet lets you spend it.
Routes Into Monero
Each pair page shows the current estimate before you commit to anything.
- BTC to XMR: Bitcoin to Monero
- ETH to XMR: Ethereum to Monero
- SOL to XMR: Solana to Monero
- LTC to XMR: Litecoin to Monero
- USDT to XMR and USDC to XMR: stablecoins to Monero
- BNB to XMR, TRX to XMR, AVAX to XMR, ADA to XMR and DOGE to XMR
- Back out again: XMR to BTC and XMR to USDT
Stablecoins exist on several networks. Pick the network your wallet actually holds the coins on, because a deposit sent on the wrong network may not be recoverable. The USDT networks guide explains the differences.
What Exchanging to Monero Does and Does Not Do for Privacy
It is easy to overstate this, so here is the plain version.
What changes. Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana are public ledgers: balances and transfers can be read by anyone. Monero hides the sender, receiver and amount of every transaction by default. After the exchange, what you hold and how you later spend it is no longer readable on a public chain.
What does not change.
- Your deposit is a normal, public transaction on the chain you sent from. Anyone can see that those coins went to an exchange deposit address.
- The liquidity provider that executes the swap sees both sides of it and screens transactions. Rarely, it can hold a flagged swap and ask for verification before releasing or refunding the funds.
- No account is not the same as anonymous. Your network connection, the timing and size of the swap, and what you do with the XMR afterwards can all reveal information.
- An exchange between two cryptocurrencies is a taxable event in many countries. Keep your own records.
SwapRocket is not offered to residents of the United States or the United Kingdom.
What It Costs
There are three costs, and you can see their combined effect before you send:
- The network fee on the coin you send. You pay this from your own wallet, like any transfer. Bitcoin and Ethereum fees rise when those networks are busy; Litecoin, Solana and TRON are usually cheap to send from.
- The exchange fee. It is built into the estimate.
- The Monero payout network fee. It is also built into the estimate.
The XMR figure on the pair page is therefore the number to compare. Because the rate is floating, check it again right before you send a large amount.
Before You Send
- Use your own Monero wallet. The official Monero GUI or CLI wallet from getmonero.org, Feather and Cake Wallet are widely used. Do not use an exchange deposit address you have not checked accepts incoming XMR.
- Check the address. Standard Monero addresses start with 4 and subaddresses start with 8. Paste the address, then compare the first and last characters.
- Start with a small test swap if the amount matters to you. It costs one extra network fee and confirms the whole route.
- Back up your seed phrase offline before you receive anything.
- Check the domain. Make sure you are on swaprocket.io, and save your swap ID in case you need to email support@swaprocket.io.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a bridge to Monero?
Not in the sense of a smart-contract bridge that moves wrapped tokens between chains. Monero has no smart contracts and hides transaction details, so the lock-and-mint model does not apply. Moving value into Monero is done by exchanging another coin for native XMR.
What do people mean by a Monero bridge?
Usually a cross-chain exchange: a service that takes BTC, ETH, SOL or another coin and pays out XMR on the Monero network. The word "bridge" is used loosely here. The mechanism is a swap carried out by a liquidity provider, not a bridge contract.
Is SwapRocket a Monero bridge?
No. SwapRocket is a non-custodial crypto-to-crypto exchange. You send from your own wallet, one licensed liquidity provider executes the swap, and the XMR goes to the address you entered.
Do I need KYC to exchange crypto for Monero?
Standard swaps on SwapRocket need no account, no email and no identity documents. The liquidity provider screens transactions and can, rarely, hold a flagged one and ask for verification, so it cannot be promised that verification never happens.
How long does it take to exchange BTC or ETH to XMR?
Typically 5 to 30 minutes, set mostly by how fast your deposit confirms. Bitcoin is the slower of the two. After the XMR arrives, your Monero wallet waits 10 blocks, about 20 minutes, before the balance is spendable.
Can a swap into Monero be traced?
The deposit on the sending chain is public and visible to anyone. Transactions inside Monero hide sender, receiver and amount by default. The liquidity provider still has a record of the swap, so an exchange into XMR is a privacy improvement and not a guarantee of anonymity.
What happens if the swap cannot be completed?
You enter a refund address before the swap starts. If the swap fails, the deposit is returned to that address, less the network fee for sending it back. Keep your swap ID and contact support@swaprocket.io if anything looks stuck.
Can I exchange Monero back to Bitcoin or USDT?
Yes. The same process works in reverse through XMR to BTC or XMR to USDT. The Monero exchange guide for XMR to BTC, ETH and USDT walks through it.
